Southside Speedway’s 2011 Season Placed On Temporary Hold
February 09, 2011

Midlothian, VA — Southside Speedway’s 2011 season has been placed on temporary hold, track officials have announced. Sue Clements, the hands-on owner and promoter of the historic .333-mile paved oval, encountered medical issues recently necessitating a pause in operations. The track’s participation in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series for 2011 was announced in December. Clements and NASCAR are working together to resume those plans based on Clements’ recovery period.

Southside, a .333-mile paved oval in Midlothian, Va. – southeast of downtown Richmond, Va. – are the fifth addition to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series for next season and will be the sixth track in the Commonwealth to host NASCAR’s grassroots racing.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Sue and we wish her a speedy recovery,” said Bob Duvall, NASCAR Director, Developmental Racing Series Operations.

Schedule updates will be posted on the track’s website, www.southsidespeedway.com.
