It was a night of firsts at Southside Speedway as three drivers picked up their first wins of the year this past Friday night.

Brian Myslivy led from green-to checker to pick up his first win of the season in the Grand Stock main event. In victory lane, Myslivy let the emotions of the win flow as he dedicated it to his dad, who passed away in January.

“This one’s for him,” Myslivy said. “It’s Father’s Day Weekend and I got to give it to him. He meant a lot to me and I miss him every day. This win is very special for me.”

Myslivy was able to hold off Tommy Tatum in the closing stages of the race for the win. Tatum pulled right up on his back bumper of Myslivy’s car in the final laps to make it a 2-car battle for the win.

“I got to give it to Tommy. He raced me clean and I appreciate it,” Myslivy said. “It was getting close at the end, but we finally got one and it feels great to get one!”

Daniel Shelton came home third with Mark Simpson and Shawn Hopkins rounding out the top five.

Cameron Wood picked up his first win of the season in the CHAMP Kart main event after a last lap pass on race leader Buzz Moore. J.D. Eversole finished second with Moore, who was going for his fourth win in a row, finished third. Clint Gunn and Randy Emory rounded out the top five.

Mike Chapman grabbed his first win of the season in the UCAR series 25-lap main event. Chapman held off Rusty Bennett at the line with Austin Dodge placing third. Jamie Hite and series points leader David Kerns finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Shayne Lockhart grabbed his third win of the season in the Late Model main event. Series points leader Chris Dodson finished second with Steve Zuskin placing a season best third. Jeff Oakley and Brandon Hendrick rounded out the top five.

Thomas Stinson picked up his 5th win of the season in the Modified main event. Chris Johnson came home a close second with Mike Rudy placing third. Chris Hoylman and Kyle Wood rounded out the top five.

Racing action continues next Friday night with Scout Night at the track. The Late Models will race in a special 50/50 main event. The CHAMP Karts will also be racing in a 20-lap main event. The UCAR and Street Stock division will also be in action.
