Itís been three long weeks since anyone has heard any racing action from Southside Speedway.

Heavy damage from a storm forced officials to call the race on July 30 and after a scheduled week off last week, the cars and stars will return to the .333 mile track Friday night.

And heading into this Friday nightís program, brought to you by 93.1 The Wolf, the stakes could not be any higher as all six divisions will be in action and it will be a Double Points night with only a few weeks remaining in the season.

Headlining the racing action will be the Late Models in a 75-lap duel. Chris Dodson and Eddie Johnson, who picked up wins in both 50-lap main events on July 23, will be trying to carry that momentum to the track. Dodson has a 340-point lead over Shayne Lockhart with only 3 races to go. Johnson is looking for his third win of the season and currently sits fifth in points, 120 back from 4th place Chris Hopkins.

Other names to be on the watch for in the 75-lap event includes Lockhart, who is looking for his fifth trophy of the season and Brandon Hendrick, who sits third in the points and is still looking for win #1 this year. Hopkins is fourth in points and is looking to rebound after finishing 13th and 15th in the last 2 races.

The Modified division will be competing in a 50-lap race while Thomas Stinson will be looking to add another trophy to the mantle and continue his drive for another track championship.

Stinson holds a 300 points lead over 2nd place Chris Johnson and has won 6 of the 10 races run this year.

Johnson has finished in the top 5 in all the races run this year, but is still looking for win #1 in 2010.

Mike Rudy holds down the third spot with Michael Johnson and Kyle Wood running 4th and 5th.

The Grand Stock division will compete in a 30-lap main event. Tommy Tatum continued his pursuit for the division championship by winning one of the 2 30-lap segment races on July 23. The win was his 5th of the season and helped extend his points lead by 460 over second place Shawn Hopkins. Hopkins and Donnie Newman, who sits third in points, are both still looking for their first win of the season.

Brian Myslivy is 4th in points, 20 points ahead of Daniel Shelton in fifth.

David Kerns, Mike Chapman and Austin Dodge head into this Friday nightís 25-lap UCAR main event in a 3-way battle for the points lead.

Kerns leads Chapman by 80 points with 3 races left after this Friday night. Chapman also has an 80 point lead over Dodge. Dodge is currently looking to grab his first win of the season while both Kerns and Chapman picked up victories earlier this season.

Rusty Bennett and Daniel Thomas are tied for fourth place in the points race.

Brian Smith leads the Street Stock division into this Friday nightís 50-lap main event. But on his back bumper in the points race is Mike Ganoe. Ganoe trails Smith by just 60-points with only 3 races left after this Friday. Ganoe has also won 4 out of the 5 races this season.

Justin Groome, Ricky Stotler and Paul Clemons round out the top five with just 20 points separating each of them.

The CHAMP KARTS will be in action as well in a 20-lap main event. Buzz Moore currently leads the points race over second place Brad Davis. But the big race is for 3rd place between JD Eversole and Randy Emory. Both drivers are separated by just 60 points. Stan Holmes rounds out the top five.

Gates open at 6pm this Friday night with racing kicking off at 7:30pm. Ticket prices are Adults $12, Seniors (60+) & Military are $10, Ages 6-11 are $5 and Ages 5 & under are FREE.
